Mexicanos

Descripción

That instead of the Mexicans sacrificing Thousands and twenty thousands annually, as those Adventurers reported, they never sacrificed fifty in any one Year. And, for ought I can learn, they neither sacrificed Beasts or Men constantly; but only on some grand Festivals, or in the Time of some general Calamity, such as Famine, or ill Success in War, to appease their angry Gods, as the Phoenicians and Carthaginians did, from whom it is highly probable they were descended.
